LOCAL cycling club CC Topp held its annual dinner and prize presentation

last Friday evening. Club members Catherine and Rod Buskell hosted the successful evening at their Walford home. After a fine meal and lots of stories across the table, Trevor Flowers, club president, gave a short speech recalling the highs and lows of the 2008 season. Special guests were club sponsor John Lawrence and his wife, Julie. Racing secretary, Terry Harrradine, along with Trevor presented the trophies and certificates.

Club champion for the 7th year in succession was Simon Underwood who, although now lives on the south coast, still races with great success for

CC Topp. In 2008 Simon set new club records at 30 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours.Medal and certificate winners were 1st in ladies 10 mile series, Carol Soble and 2nd in ladies 10 mile series, Catherine Buskell. Certificates were awarded to Rod Buskell, Jonathon Woodhead, Terry Harradine, Trevor Flowers and Bob Morris. With several new members joining over the winter months competition for medals will be greater this year.

Clubman of the year trophy, which is not necessarily awarded for race results was presented to club secretary and treasurer, Phyl Harradine in recognition of her work for the club over the years.
