ROSS shoppers will be 'trying something new' when Somerfield supermarket becomes Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's has exchanged contracts to acquire the Somerfield store in Ross from the Coop. They expect to complete over the next couple of months. The store will then close for a period of refurbishment and rebranding and will re-open as a Sainsbury's later this year. A spokesman said: "The new store will provide improved and modernised shopping facilities for the local community, offering an excellent fresh food and grocery range." All colleagues employed at the Somerfield store will be offered employment with Sainsbury's. Chris Templeman, Head ofAcquisitions, said: "The Ross on Wye Somerfield store presents an excellent opportunity for us to bring the Sainsbury's concept to the area.
"We look forward to continuing Somerfield staff that have served the community so well and to welcoming them to Sainsbury's."
