The Ross Area Transport Awards was celebrated at Ross Court Care Home on Thursday, July 11th. Those who volunteer their time to help others by transporting them to appointments, to see family, and for days out, received recognition from the Ross-on-Wye Mayor, Jane Roberts, as she presented the awards and congratulated them all personally.
Five year, ten year and 15 year badges were handed out along with medals. Roger Barnes, Sandie Cotterell and Howard Cotterell were given 15 year badges.
Clasps and 20 year badges were given to the even longer serving volunteers, Fiona Leathart and Thelma Green.
One of the oldest residents, at 102 years old, was given the prestigious job of cutting the celebratory cake. Scones with jam and cream, as well as cakes and hot drinks were then enjoyed by the party of guests, home residents, staff, and volunteers who joined the celebration.
Councillor Roberts congratulated all of the volunteers and thanked them for dedicating their time to help other local residents in need.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
