The organisers of the annual Large Model Air Show in Much Marcle have announced the charities which have benefited from the donations raised through the 2018 Air Show.

The Large Model Association is based in the UK and its members are interested in the designing, building and flying of large model aircraft. The events organised by the Large Model Association throughout the year raise money for numerous charities, and promote aeromodelling.

This year’s annual Large Model Air Show, which was held over the first weekend in September, 2018 at Rye Meadows, Much Marcle, took place in fortunately, what was almost perfect weather this year; this was quite a relief after very unfriendly weather at times over recent years.

Large crowds of local people, visitors and families enjoyed two days of entertainment in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere on this very picturesque site.

The Herefordshire Model Aero Club, whose flying field is the venue for the show, and the Large Model Association, who stage the event, told the Ross Gazette that they wish to thank all of the members of the public, who came from near and far to support this year’s show.

Over the years, some £33,000 has been given to various charities and local good causes, which has been raised from donations throughout the annual shows, and 2018 was no exception. This recognises the continuing co-operation between the Herefordshire Club, the show organisers, and the village in which the show is held.

Therefore, this year, the Large Model Association has donated cheques of £400 each to Much Marcle Memorial Hall and to the 1st Much Marcle Guides.

The Large Model Association also gave a further £200 to St Bartholomews Church, in Much Marcle. All three donations totalled £1,000.

Planning is already under way for the 2019 show, which will be held on August 31st and September 1st.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
