A charity car wash is taking place today (Tuesday, March 13th) at the Hand Car Wash at the old Council Yard on the Ashburton Industrial Estate in aid of The Friends of Ross Hospital.

Jill Davies, Chairman, told the Ross Gazette: “The Friends of Ross Hospital have committed to providing an auxiliary lift for the hospital, to be sited on the outside of the building. This has come about as the inside lift broke down last year for three weeks and it meant that the staff had to carry all food, linen etc up three flights of stairs – even the paramedics had to carry patients up the stairs!

“It was extremely hard work for all concerned and The Friends need to do something in case the lift was to break down again, so we are busy fund raising for this project.”

Jill continued: “We hope that the people of Ross will turn out to support their local hospital and get a nice clean car! It’s a lovely day for it too."
