Madam, I have been asked by our current Chairman, Ron Francis, to inform our local supporters that Humanitarian Aid is now winding up its affairs. We have been taking aid in many forms out to Bosnia since 1995, to all those in need irrespective of ethnic or language group, although probably the majority of our aid has been directed to the population of East Mostar, whose Muslim community suffered very severely in the civil war and afterwards.

More recently we have also been helping the organisation called 'Mothers of Srebrenica', who are the surviving relatives of the terrible massacre of their menfolk during the war. This has only been possible because we have had most generous help and support from local people and businesses, both in Ross and Herefordshire generally. People have spent chilly hours collecting food and money for us outside supermarkets, repaired our hard-worked lorries, sorted and packed goods and acted as lorry drivers, often sacrificing holiday leave to drive to Bosnia.

The committee of Humanitarian Aid would like thank most sincerely all those who have taken part in this humanitarian cause. Residual funds will be divided equally between 'the Mothers of Srebrenica' and the East Mostar Red Cross.

Richard Parker, Ross
