A local netball player has set up a charity netball tournament in March to raise money for Cancer Research.

The tournament will take place on Sunday, March 15 at Freedom Leisure Centre in Cinderford, and is being organised by local Ross businesswoman Sarah Bowden.

Sarah and her husband, Tony, run the accounting and finance function business Bluewave on the outskirts of Ross.

Sarah - who plays for Ross Allsorts - was diagnosed with bowel cancer in November last year, and had a large section of her large intestine removed before Christmas.

After a full recovery, Sarah was fit enough to return to playing netball in January and following her treatment is keen to give something back, by helping raise funds for a cancer charity.

Each player taking part in the tournament is contributing with a £5 individual registration fee that will go towards the charity.

As well as the tournament, there will be a raffle to raise further money and there will also be a cake stall at the event.
