A white van used by a local charity has been stolen and its loss is causing serious problems.

EnviroAbility’s White Ford transit flat bed van was stolen from Overross Garage sometime between 4pm on Wednesday, November 28th and 8am on Friday, November 30th. A spokesperson for the charity told the Gazette that a member of the team went out on Wednesday to do a couple of jobs and parked the vehicle back at Overross when he had finished.

The van is usually used every day but the jobs booked for the Thursday were cancelled so the vehicle did not have to be used until the Friday morning. A member of the team went to collect it and was shocked it was not there.

The charity is currently hiring a vehicle to enable them to carry on their gardening jobs, the recycling they do for shops and businesses in the town, and collecting and delivering second hand furniture.

Paula Evans said that the theft has come at a very unfortunate time as their second vehicle, the VW Crafter yellow van, is having some major repairs.

She added: “It’s upsetting that this sort of thing happens but to steal from a charity who undertake a lot of work within the local community is just despicable.”
