Chloe Blomfield from Ross-on-Wye will ‘Go Sober for October’ in memory of her Auntie, Jo Lane, a former Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jo Lane lost her battle with cancer in August this year. After her death, tributes for the former Mayor poured into the Ross Gazette’s office; she had been a very well loved and respected member of the community.

Chloe told the Ross Gazette:?“I want to give something back to the incredible nurses that looked after her and my family. They went to such great lengths and effort just to make sure she was comfortable and not suffering in pain.

“It really makes these awfully distressing situations that little bit easier knowing that she was in safe hands and being properly cared for.”

Chloe added:?“My Auntie was the strongest, bravest and most loving person I’ve ever known and I will never forget the life lessons she has taught me. Life is way too short and I hope she’ll be proud of me that I’m trying to make a difference to something that affected her so much.”

‘Go Sober for October’ is an annual fundraising campaign, organised by Macmillan Cancer Support, which encourages people to go booze-free for the 31 days of October and raise funds for the charity.
