The first part revolves around three settings of the Ave Verum by composers from the 17th (Byrd) 18th (Mozart) and 19th (Lizst) centuries, alongside music of differing devotional moods from their contemporaries Viadana, Purcell and Schubert.
Part two will take them away from the religious sphere and present songs and dances evoking the Bavarian hills, the New World and Elizabethan England.
