Once again Ross Tennis Centre hosted the 'Paul Hulett Memorial Cup' for U16 boys tennis tournament last Sunday. The event was supported by nine enthusiastic and determined players who competed in the Round Robin format.
The players were seeded and divided up into two groups with the top two in each group progressing to the semi finals. Christian Porter, the defending champion, played Alfie Davies in a very tight and exciting match resulting in Christian clinching the set 6-4. The other semi was between Michael Evans and Conor Kearns with Michael securing the match with the same scoreline. The final saw a very focused Christian defend his title with a convincing 6-1 victory. All nine boys, including Alex Dereham, James O'Connor, Jamie Downs, Conor Porter and Sam Vidler, will be eligible for the next year's competition when Christian will attempt to become the first player ever to win the event in three successive years.
The presentation was made by Ross Tennis Centre's Chris Friend.
