An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a 67-year-old man from Gorsley who died as a result of firearms injuries in Gorsley on Christmas Eve.

The police were called to a property in Linton Road, Gorsley at 23.50 on December 24th after a firearm was discharged. The police confirmed that there were no other people involved or any suspicious circumstances.

The man, whose identity will not be released until all relatives have been informed, was in lawful possession of the firearm. The inquest was opened on December 29th.

Parts of the roads surrounding the property were closed and local residents reported that a pub was asked to keep its doors shut while police officers carried out enquiries.
