Councillor Hannah Lerego presented some of the decorations, from the Christmas Fayre, to SHYPP’s December House, on Tuesday, December 1st.
The decorations have been used to decorate Santa’s Grotto, at the Royal Hotel, during the Ross-on-Wye Christmas Fayre. These decorations were purchased using a donation from the Costa Community Foundation Project, and were then donated to SHYPP.
Cllr Lerego told the Gazette that other local charities benefited from the Christmas Fayre: £54 was raised for Rocky-Lee’s Little Feet through donations given during facepainting, and the profit made during the Fayre was given to the Mayor’s chosen charity, St Michael’s Hospice. This donation amounted to more than £500.
There was a fantastic turnout at the SHYPP charity quiz at the Man of Ross Inn on Wednesday, November 25th.
Nine teams took part, and £261 was raised, which the team at SHYPP were thrilled with.
Natasha Davies, who works with the young people at SHYPP told the Ross Gazette that the money will be used to ensure the residents in the Ross-on-Wye Foyer have a wonderful Christmas. The money will be spent on a decorations, presents, and groceries for a communal Christmas lunch.
SHYPP is a Herefordshire-based charity, which works with 16-25 year olds. SHYPP offers emergency and medium term accommodation in supported housing projects, outreach support to young people and young parents, a ‘Nightstop’ emergency accommodation project and education in schools.
