MADAM, In response to the letter from Mrs Green last week, I will attempt to clear up the confusion. I have never said that people shouldn't use Tanyard Lane from the new development, as I simply don't know the ownership rights of the lane. I will have certainly said to Mrs Green that if Persimmon don't have permission to use it and are not wanted there by the owners of the lane then they shouldn't be able to use it, but that is a simple case of ownership rights. I just don't know who owns what along there. When it comes to helping the residents of the new Persimmon development, I will do whatever I can to help them just like I do with all of my residents. To me it is really simple, if Persimmon do not have permission to use that lane then they will not be able to provide a footpath there. If they DO have permission, which they seem to think they do, then my view is open it up now and let the residents have access a few weeks sooner. Whether or not the residents who need the footpath access (somewhere, it doesn't have to be Tanyard Lane) have bought their homes or been "given" them as the letter states is irrelevant. I'm here to support all of my residents regardless of their financial circumstances. The views of the residents of Tanyard Lane are just as important as those on the new development. The lack of the footpath is an issue that should have been sorted by the developers before residents moved in, and is not a council issue nor is it an issue for anyone else to fix bar the developer. But it does need fixing. Cllr Andrew Atkinson Ross-on-Wye East Ward
