MADAM, The closure of the swimming pool for nine months, from September 2014 to June 2015 seems to have been decided with little thought for the people of Ross, who it would appear weren't even consulted. I am a regular user of the pool at 7am, five days a week, swimming is important to me, more so because at the moment I am recovering from major heart surgery. The gym is not suitable for my recovery, but, apart from myself, what about the school children who have regular swimming lessons, also there are a lot of the older population who require this facility. I can understand that should the scheme go ahead there would have to be periods when the pool would need to be closed to carry out some of the work, but, to close it carte blanche for nine months seems ridiculous. I get the impression that little thought has gone into the planning by those concerned, the Contractors, the Council and Halo, this plan cannot be financially viable for Halo to lose the income for nine months. To spend £2.5million to achieve a larger gym and a dance studio seems to me again to be a waste of money. I have been told that it would be possible to build a complete new pool beside the existing one with all the facilities that would be required for £7.5 million which would appear to be a much better solution. In conclusion it would appear that a lot more discussion needs to take place to include members of the public before any alterations take place or any money is spent. D Webb, Ross
