The Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye will be holding their sixth Model Railway Exhibition at John Kyrle High School on August 18th and 19th.

Last year the exhibition attracted 20+ layouts and was supported by trade stands. All of the exhibitors were very impressed with the venue, and John Kyrle High School has agreed to host this year’s show. John Kyrle is an exceptional school and Rotarians are always impressed by the standard of teaching and the ability of students whenever they attend functions at the school.

This year there are 20+ layouts, many of them new to the Ross Exhibition, and also the usual trade stands where the public can purchase items for their own layouts, or even start their first one. There will be plenty of advice available through the day. Many of the local clubs are being represented and exhibitors are travelling from Wales, Cirencester, Cheltenham and many other ‘far flung places’.

The purpose of the exhibition, as well as to entertain, is to raise funds for Rotary charities. This year they are supporting a scheme to improve the water supply of the school science department in Namatumba, Ross-on-Wye’s Twin Town and which is supported by John Kyrle High School. A reliable supply of water is obviously essential for the teaching of science and this project should help students to achieve better standards. This scheme will cost 15,907,000 Ugandan shillings, which is £3,293.

The Exhibition will be open on both days from 10am until 4pm (ish) and snacks will be available throughout the day. Do come along, have a great day and support our Twin Town. Admission charges are unchanged from last year: Adults £4 Child £3 Family (2+2) £10.
