On May 28th, Ross First X1 entertained Old Elizabethans at The Park in blustery conditions. Winning the toss, Ross Captain, Stuart Mair, had no hesitation in asking the visiting team to bat first. A decision which was quickly justified when Ross' opening bowlers Harry Porter (7-1-16-1) and Charles Hiram (10-3-27-3) removed the Old Elizabethan's top order to leave them on 11 for 4 in 8 overs. Elliott Bartlett and Christopher Dales, both batted with great maturity to rebuild the OE's innings until Gabriel Warwick (13-4-28-2) had Dale (27) caught by Max Porter with the score on 52. Macpherson joined Bartlett at the crease and they pushed the score to 92 when a good piece of fielding by Bruno Warwick had Bartlett (31) run out. The bowling was ably supported by Christiaan Ferreira returning figures of (3.4-1-10-2) which left OE's bowled out for 121.
After the tea interval, the Ross openers of James Tiffen and Gabriel Warwick batted sensibly with attacking shots, quick running between the wickets to prevent the OE bowling attack settling into any sort of rhythm. They moved the score on to 69 when Gabriel Warwick (50) was bowled by Donaldson. Two more wickets fell in quick succession, which brought Max Porter to the crease to join Tiffen. Max continued to push the scoring on and hit the winning runs as Ross passed the 121 target after 22 overs. James Tiffen ended on (30*) and Max Porter on (36*).
Ross won by 7 wickets.
