Dozens of excited children met at Tudorville Community Centre on Friday, November 9th as the TDCC youth club was relaunched.
The club meets every other week at the Community Centre and has been relaunched thanks to a generous donation of £135 from the Ross-on-Wye Lions. This enabled them to purchase various ball games and sports equipment to use at the club.
Youth Club Co-ordinator Katie Brown approached the Lions as the volunteers felt there was a need for some more structured active games to run alongside the usual crafts and games activities.
The equipment was very well received by the 30 children who attended the club last Friday and they would also like to thank Ross Juniors Football Club coaches Ben Robbins and Ryan Titmuss who came along for the evening to teach the children some ball skills.
After a recent fall in numbers at the youth club the TDCC committee and volunteers worked together to rename and relaunch the club with lots of exciting new ideas and trips planned. The social club, aimed at children aged 7-13 (school year 2 and up) has been renamed Friday Fortnight, as it runs every other Friday at the new time of 6pm to 7:30pm.
On Friday 23rd November there will be a family prize bingo to raise funds for the club. The volunteers hope to see as many current and future users of the club there as possible on the evening to put forward their ideas of what they want from their club. Everyone is welcome and eyes down is at 7:30pm.
Find the club on Facebook and Instagram or call Lisa Perry on 07584032323 for more information. Entry is only £1.50 per child and there is a tuck shop available on the night.
Friday Fortnight is always on the look out for new volunteers so please get in touch on the number above or via Facebook if you are interested in helping out.
There is no need to commit to every session and there is funding available to train young leaders who are aged between 18-years-old and 25-years-old.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
