THE public are being consulted over the ambitious vision to create to revamp the town’s skatepark to provide a multi-use games area for all ages and abilities.

Earlier this year Andrew Houston, Herefordshire Council’s project manager explained that in common with most skateparks around the country, the facility in Ross-on-Wye needs a lot of maintenance, and while it is functional, it is now looking tired.

Mr Houston observed that Ross Town Council had been looking after the site for 25 years and said: “When I first visited the site, I thought it could be so much more. The project’s objective is to provide a new skatepark, but it’s now much more than that. We want to promote active lifestyles for all ages.

“At the moment our focus is on providing an activity park, but what that will look like will be shaped by the Ross community through consultation.”

The public are being invited to meet the design team and share your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to see at Wilton Park.

The public consultation is being held on Thursday, November 13 at Ross Town Council offices in Cantilupe Road between 2pm and 6pm.

And by creating a multi-generational activity hub for Ross it aims to transform Wilton Park into an exciting new activity destination for everyone in the local community.

The project leaders’ vision is to create a concrete skatepark, pump track and multi-use games area for all ages and abilities and together they said, ‘Let's make Wilton Park an active, inclusive, and inspiring space for Ross’.

The park will also have a range of active spaces designed to bring people together to promote well-being, inclusivity, and outdoor fun.

An online survey can also be completed via Ross Town Council’s website.
