A Royal Mail postbox in the centre of Ross-on-Wye, that has been ‘imprisoned’ by scaffolding, is to be formally taken out of service this week.

The postbox, located on the side of the town’s historic Market House, had to be fenced off to protect the public from the works being undertaken as part of the historic building’s renovation.

A spokesman for Royal Mail confirmed that the postbox is currently inaccessible and added that it will immediately be taken out of service and a notice will be placed on the fencing surrounding the postbox confirming the situation.

It is likely the postbox will be out of service until September when the renovation work is expected to be completed.
