Madam, After my home was flooded on July 6th, the help of my neighbours in Silver Birches was amazing. I was at home on my own at the time of the flooding, my husband was travelling back from a foreign business trip.

Without the help of such wonderful people to move belongings we would have lost even more than we did. One even set up a soup/tea kitchen in her house, another baked delicious scones, the support and sense of a community pulling together has made it much more tolerable.

I would also like to thank James at the Kings Head for getting a room ready for us very quickly, and Richard Mayo from Truffles for ensuring we had access to some medicinal cake.

On behalf of the residents of all four houses that were flooded in Silver Birches on July 6th, can I please say a massive thank you to Cllr Andrew Atkinson. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us, and to fight for some immediate remedial action to try and reduce the chances of being flooded again. He is an asset that Ross should be very proud of.
