CONFIDENCE in West Mercia Police continues to increase while visibility remains steady, according to the latest findings from Police and Crime Commissioner’s perception survey.

The results reflect feedback gathered between January and March 2026 and indicate sustained progress across the force, with improvements across nearly all areas of policing.

More than eight in 10 respondents said they have confidence in West Mercia Police - a rise of two per cent compared to the same period the previous year, while seven in 10 believe they would receive a good level of service.

Some 58 per cent said that they feel the force is doing a good or excellent job overall.

With road safety at the heart of the commissioner’s safer communities plan, the effort put into reducing the amount of harm caused across West Mercia’s road network is clearly being noticed by communities, with 10 per cent more people saying they are confident in how the force is policing the roads.

Across West Mercia, 21per cent of residents said they see a police officer or Police Community Support Officer at least once a week.

Commissioner John Campion said: “While it’s good to see overall progress being made across all areas of policing it’s not job done and I will continue to work with the chief constable to make sure the upward trend continues.

“With more officers than ever before and the focus on neighbourhood policing, I’m determined to put the voice of the public at the heart of policing to effect continued real positive change that delivers safer communities for all across all of West Mercia.”

Overall satisfaction with the levels of policing in West Mercia have also increased by two per cent.

Other findings reveal that the telephone remains the most preferable method of contact, with more than seven in 10 respondents preferring to contact the force by phone;
