Residents near Ross have been without a telephone connection since Tuesday, October 18.
Eight homes at the Cottage Park have been without power, and neighbour Shelia Boyse has been trying to help get those affected back onto the network.
A number of residents at the park do not have smart phones or are online, and as a result of this situation, are left isolated and unable to seek help themselves.
Shelia says she herself has spent several hours on the phone to BT support. On the occasions she’s managed to get through, they take her details but never get back to her.
Residents are concerned and confused as to when their phones will come back online. Little information has been relayed to the residents from BT regarding the situation.
One of the residents without a computer or smart phone is hesitant to use their pay-as-you-go mobile because they can’t anticipate what kind of bill they’ll rack up.
One of the residents was told that a “complex team” was due to arrive last week, but nobody appeared to have visited and residents are still without a phone connection.
Information which was sent out to residents told them that if the situation was not resolved within eight weeks, they are able to go to the communications ombudsman with a formal complaint.
