HEREFORDSHIRE Council parking charges could be set to rise again despite revenue of some £4.9m last year.
The council raised £4.44m from its 30-plus car parks in the year to March, plus a further £492,000 from on-street parking.
And it says says its parking charges are below average compared with neighbouring authorities, and may have to rise.
But Mike Truelove of Hereford Business Improvement District, which represents the city’s retail and hospitality sector, said the charges “remain a major concern for attracting footfall”.
Car users are not sold on the proposal either, Nicky Scudamore, who lives between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford,, saying: “It seems expensive when you just come in for some shopping and you’ve got to guess how long you’ll be.”
