Madam, further to my letter of two weeks ago I sympathise with all private landlords, they now have no grace period to redecorate or refurbish between tenants. As yet I have not heard from any councillors, despite writing to some directly, possibly as they do not wish to comment on the inept financial dealings of last year. I would like to add that as of April 2014 you will now pay full council tax on a property undergoing major refurbishment or alteration, no exceptions, even if it is uninhabitable. This will not fill empty houses, just punish those trying to repair them. Finally the icing on the cake – the day probate is granted on a deceased estate in Herefordshire the relatives are liable for 100% council tax despite the government recommendation of six month's grace. Nothing like robbing the dead is there.
