Cllr Chris Bartrum is at the Market House on behalf of the Friends of Ross Community Hospital every Thursday and Saturday with their petition regarding the reduced hours at the Minor Injuries Unit.

Last Thursday he was also helping the Ross Town Plan Progress Group interview town centre users as part of the benchmarking exercise they have undertaken. Local councillors and volunteers in the Town Plan Progress Group wanted to know what visitors to the town centre thought of Ross.

The group has been collecting data to do with people's shopping habits and the facilities the town has to offer. Cllr Caroline Utting, who interviewed a number of people, said "Whilst many thought the services currently offered by the town were good, they expressed a concern about the loss of hours at the MIU and the potential to lose more services in the future."

The survey questions included how often people visited the town, how much they spent and what they thought about the look and cleanliness of Ross. Many had positive comments to make about the range of shops, car parking and transport links. All the information will shortly be sent off to Action for Market Towns, a group specialising in helping market towns reach their full potential by identifying weaknesses.

Cllr Chris Bartrum will continue to collect signatures on market days so anyone wishing to add their name can do so.
