Ross residents could soon be seeing work to improve some of the most complained-about roads in the town.

The spine road at Greytree is just one area which has been the subject of many comments from local residents. In May 2019 Councillor Daniel Lister said: “The road is awful and a complete mess.”

However, this week, the three County Councillors for Ross will be pressing Herefordshire Council to amend their budget to provide more resources for repairing roads like this one.

Ross Town and County Councillor Paul Symonds said he is “cautiously optimistic” that there will be an additional £1m per year invested in the roads in the market towns including Ross-on-Wye, in 2020/2021 and during the following two years.

He is hopeful that County Councillors will support a request which will be put forward at the County Council meeting on Friday, February 14th to spend an additional £1m per year “in market towns public realm maintenance and improvement”.

This is one section of a motion which has been submitted to Herefordshire Council which also requests ring fencing money to be used for the roads in market towns.
