A petrol thief who made off without paying from a Ross-on-Wye filling station has been handed a court bill of nearly £600.

Sultan Arif of Clent Hill Drive, Oldbury, filled up with £85.01 worth of diesel at Morrisons petrol station on June 15, but left without paying.

Worcester magistrates heard that he had pulled the same stunt at Tesco in Redditch six days earlier, when again he stole £85 worth of fuel.

Arif, aged 29, admitted the offences, and was fined £240 and ordered to pay compensation of £85.01 to Morrisons and £85 to Tesco.

He must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
