Andrew Ramsey Murdoch (45), a Ross-on-Wye man who is currently serving time in HMP Hewell, Redditch, appeared in Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 27th. Murdoch had been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class C drug.

Amy Davies, prosecuting, told the court that police discovered 193 tablets of diazepam while he was in police custody on January 11th 2017.

She said that the tablets were retrieved from his body over a number of days.

Marilena DiVitantonio, defending, told the court that Murdoch accepted he had been in possession of the Class C drug, but he denied an intent to supply.

Murdoch pleaded not guilty to an intent to supply, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of possession.

A trial to determine whether Murdoch is guilty of the more serious offence of possession has been set for July 26th at Hereford Magistrates’ Court.

Murdoch is due to finish his custodial sentence on June 14th, so Magistrates set technical unconditional bail which will be in place after he is released from prison.
