The Ross-on-Wye Community First Responders are inviting the public to CPR sessions following an incident outside Lloyds Bank on Friday, February 9th, where bystanders successfully resuscitated a man who had collapsed in the street.
The First Responders told the Ross Gazette: “Any groups or parishes in the Ross and surrounding areas, that would like to hold an awareness session for CPR and how to use an AED, do get in touch with the Ross-on-Wye CFR’s.
“If you have a location, for example a village hall, and have it available for a session, we can come along to provide awareness training for groups. We would like to engage in the communities in and around Ross, spreading awareness of how they could potentially help someone in an emergency.”
AED’s (Automatic External Defibrillator) can be found in public access cabinets (CPAD sites) or in nearby shops. The 999 call taker will advise you on the nearest AED and code for cabinet. These do not require any training and are 100% safe to use on patients.
“The locations we know of in Ross town that have these CPAD sites are: the Market Hall, the Larruperz Centre, and the Tudorville Community Centre.
“We want to share our knowledge so that others can do the same as the fantastic bystander did on Friday. We have already had a couple of groups contact us, and we are looking to get those sessions set up soon!”
