Almost one year ago members of the Bridstow and Ross Parish Councils were celebrating the news that a new Toucan Crossing was going to be installed at the A40/A49 roundabout at Wilton.

Local residents had been campaigning for a safer crossing between Ross and Bridstow for many years, and the news that construction had been agreed was met with delight by local Councillors.

Now after several months of traffic disruption due to lane closures, the crossing is almost ready to be put into use.

A spokesperson for the Highways Agency told the Ross Gazette: “It should be in operation later this month."
