Cuba came to Ross-on-Wye on Saturday night, as the latin rhythms of ‘Son Yambu’ rocked the Gig Club. The Venue was filled with Caribbean sunshine, and the band provided the musical fuel to drive the audience through a night of non stop dancing.
Ok, the Ross crowd did need a little encouragement to get on their feet, but once they were up shaking their collective thing there was no stopping them, with many saying it was the best Gig Club ever.
The event was organised to officially launch the ‘createROSS’ group, which has been formed with the aim of promoting and aiding the development of entertainment, art and general creativity in Ross and South Herefordshire.
The current chair of createROSS, Ed O’Driscoll, gave a short, but impassioned speech during the interval about the group’s ambitions. Then the band came back on and blew the room away.
This year, besides bringing the Ross Busking Festival back for a second time, the group hope to develop the town’s Christmas lights turn on into a larger event, with a Lantern Parade, and other light based attractions. There are also plans to hold a photographic competition resulting in the production of a free 2019 calendar featuring the best images of the town.
The createROSS group is actively looking for new members, so if you want to help encourage the creative juices in Ross, please get involved. Contact can be made via the group’s Facebook page ‘createROSS’.
