A man with a degenerative eye condition has been cycling to each of the five capital cities of the British Isles, and he stopped over in Ross-on-Wye overnight between August 9th and 10th.

56 year old Ken Reid is a former Chair of Royal National Institute of Blind (RNIB) Scotland. He was diagnosed with the degenerative eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa, in 1986, and was told he was losing his sight.

On Friday, July 25th, Ken set off from Edinburgh, cycling to Cairnryan. He then took a ferry across the Irish Sea, where he cycled to Belfast, and then on to Dublin. He next took a ferry to Holyhead, and cycled to Cardiff. He will complete his cycle ride in London, on August 12th. By then, he will have cycled approximately 750 miles.

By making the journey, Ken wants to increase awareness for sight loss. Every day, more than 100 people across the UK begin to lose their sight.

Ken arrived in Ross-on-Wye yesterday (Tuesday, August 9th) after having cycled from Cardiff, a journey of 55.6 miles.

This morning (Wednesday, August 10th) Ken set off from Ross, and he hopes to arrive in Oxford tonight.
