Dear Editor
You are obviously a glass half full type of person when you say in your editor’s column last week that Ross-on-Wye still has a Police Station, a Fire Station and Community Hospital.
As a cynical old resident, I have been looking at the Police Station in Ross that has been nothing but private parking for police vehicles for about a year now.
Ross-on-Wye’s Fire Station is run by enthusiastic part timers who seem to be desperately short of recruits, and, as for the Hospital, our Minor Injuries Unit is currently closed, and we residents have to travel to Hereford to seek this help.
As taxpayers, we see annual increases for the above services in our Council Tax and the services we receive in return are diminishing every year.
Your upbeat front page news this week about the new money for Ross-on-Wye will be welcome news for us residents.
(I’ll believe it when I see it).
