Those responsible for the care of a 17-year-old boy who died in Ross last May, after developing diabetic ketoacidosis, are hoping that his death will act as reminder to those with diabetes of the seriousness of their condition.

The members of the Herefordshire Safeguarding Children Board (HSCB) also intend to make some changes to the way youngsters aged 16 and 17 are treated. All staff will also be reminded that diabetes type-1 is a life threatening condition if it is not managed. All staff working with children with this condition need to be aware of the risks.
