Madam, may I through the columns of the Ross Gazette, express my deepest sympathy to the family of Graham Gregg who died recently.

Graham, once a neighbour, served in the Royal Air Force during the second world war, completing 30 night missions over Germany.

The losses of men and aircraft were high. Out of every ten aircraft, it is estimated that the return was three.

But like other young men, this did not deter Graham from volunteering for a further 30, even though he could have stood down, but he survived the turmoil.

Graham was not a man to brag, he would not talk about his experiences. He was a perfect gentleman, a fading breed. Rest in peace, Graham.
