A ROSS teacher who served in the town's secondary schools for more than a quarter of a century has died at the age of 84.

Geoff Prime was deputy headmaster at Ross Grammar School and then a vice-principal at John Kyrle High School during a career which spanned from 1959 until he was forced to retire by ill health in 1985.A graduate of the University of Bristol, Geoff Prime arrived in Ross from Long Eaton Grammar School as a French teacher and also assisted numerous students on their path into employment as a careers officer.

Many of his formative years were also spent in the region during the period when his father Bert was the vicar of Lydbrook. And the family's connection with the town was cemented through his late wife Val who was a receptionist at Dr Chepstow House surgery in Old Maid's Walk for around 20 years.

The funeral service for Geoff Prime, who leaves three children and two grand-children, will be held at Hereford Crematorium on Thursday, November 1 at 12.45pm.

Donations in his memory can be made to Ross Community Hospital via Abbotsfield Funeral Services, Monkmoor Street, Hereford HR1 2DX.
