This September, The Studio Orchestra have their debut concert at Cheltenham Town Hall with a concert celebrating legendary film composer, John Williams.

Beginning life in Herefordshire, the orchestra was founded by a young man from Ross-on-Wye, Jack Campey.

Jack graduated from the University of Exeter in 2014, and it was during his time there that he found himself heavily involved with music. He conducted two musicals for the Footlights Society; West Side Story and Into the Woods, for the former, he was awarded the Music Society award for Best Conductor – 2014.

During his studies he was also Musical Director for the university Big Band, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra and Brass Ensemble and he found the time to continue his passion for playing trumpet, percussion and piano.

After university, Jack continued to work on his musical ambitions and became Assistant Conductor of The Film Orchestra. He also organised several musical shows at The Courtyard after his father died in 2015, as a way of raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice. At the time he told the Ross Gazette: “I am passionate about music, especially the music from the Golden Age of Hollywood and Broadway.

In 2018 Jack set up The Studio Orchestra, bringing together some of the best professional musicians around the UK, who are dedicated to the music of film, theatre and TV and have a passion to perform this fabulous genre of music.

Jack would love people from Ross to join The Studio Orchestra at their debut concert as they perform the music of one of the greatest and most celebrated film composers of all time, John Williams.

With their instantly recognisable themes and breath taking beauty, five-time Oscar winner John Williams’ legendary scores have continued to inspire and capture the hearts of audiences by bringing to life some of the most successful films of all time.

Featuring a 60-piece professional orchestra, prepare for an unforgettable evening of musical adventure though some of John Williams’ most famous and well-loved films scores including: Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Superman, Jaws, E.T. and many more.
