Herefordshire Council Cabinet agreed, at their meeting on September 14th, that Children’s Services, which are currently being provided at the Ryefield Centre in Ross-on-Wye, will move to Ross Library and to the former Chapel in Cantilupe Road, subject to provision being made in the 2018/19 capital programme and to reaching appropriate agreement with Ross Town Council.

The Cabinet considered a report making recommendations based on making the most of buildings currently in the council’s ownership as a resource for children and families. The recommendations took account of the recent consultation on children centre buildings. Where proposals were not supported, amendments were made, this included the Ryefield Centre where those who responded were concerned about the lack of space, among many other concerns in the Library.

The decision, which affect the ten Children’s Centres across Herefordshire will become effective from September 22nd, subject to call-in.
