The Ross Hockey Club 1st XI players were prepared for a tough game at home to Leominster A at the weekend.
Leominster took the first push back, but before they had a chance to cause any problems the home side took possession. It wasn't long before the ball reached Tom Walton's stick in the 'D'. He wasted no time and slotted it neatly past the Leominster keeper.
Attacker Adrian Williams struck next, sending the ball spinning into the goal. The home team had a couple more attempts on goal that were well defended by Leominster A, but then Walton stepped up once again and claimed his second goal.
Ross were still looking for more goals and midfielders, Tom Walton, Sam Warner, Ben DaCuhna, Kristian Franklin and Matt Saunders, were supplying plenty of opportunities for the attackers, Adrian Williams and Nick Clarke, but not scoring any more goals.
With half time approaching the home side kept the opposition out of their 'D', but 'keeper Andy Ridgway was drawn into action on a few occasions.
Ross began the second half looking the slightly more confident side, and they were even more determined to score. Within seconds Warner had sprung to life and scored a screamer.
With the home team hunting for more goals, Leominster were trying their best to protect their 'keeper, but then Warner took the ball and rounded the defence to score again.
Now that they had a strong advantage, all the Ross defenders, Rich Jennison, Jack Wilkinson, Luke Ward and Dave Skyrme, had to do was thwart any Leominster A attacks.
Ross kept most of the possession, getting more and more opportunities in front of goal. Strangely, no one, not even Williams, could find the net, even with the ball being injected into the 'D' several more times. This continued throughout the rest of the second period. However, when the final whistle blew, Ross were content with their 5 - 0 victory.
