At the Herefordshire Exhibition set up in the European Parliament on Monday, February 18th, different food and drink from the showcased county was tried and tested by spectators from all over Europe.

The Two Farmers crisps which recently found fame because of their decompostable packaging were on show, and many commented on how they were amazed at the 100% compostable crisp bags.

Jo Hilditch’s British Cassis drinks were available to try, and they were complimented on their unique flavour.

Jo said: "It’s not open to debate what the most beautiful county in England is: Herefordshire. It’s just got the most extraordinary landscape, biodiversity, undulating hills, hedges and patchworks of fields.

"The soil is very fertile, and this has given rise to a whole load of different professional agricultural people. There are so many farming industries in Herefordshire, including the more traditional enterprises of sheep, beef, grain and grazing, all engage with Herefordshire’s diverse land."

Jo then delved into the specific delights showcased and tasted during the evening. She said: "We’ve got champagne, cider, wine, gin, beer, and of course, British Cassis. We’ve got juices, jams, chutneys, crisps, fruits, and all kinds of organic and conventional dairy."

Some of these drinks included Beeches Vineyard Wine, Westons Cider, Ross-on-Wye based Perry & Co, Haven Distillery’s Sly Gin, and Stowford Press. Anthea McIntyre also served her very own home-grown and home-made red wine.

Honey from Purlbrook Farm was enjoyed, as well as Mr G Chutney and Tiggs Dressings.

Frank’s Luxury Biscuits were a hit, and were also served with coffees at the end of the evening as a final treat.

Visitors from both Herefordshire and across Europe were delighted with such an impressive selection of goods.
