Well-known local artist Derek Durham, who used to sell his original works from a stall in Ross market, has been selected to provide pictures for a range of collectable items to raise funds for a charity supporting the Armed Forces.

The United Kingdom National Defence Association (UKNDA) campaigns on behalf of the Armed Forces to ensure they are properly funded.

Robert Van-Ess, a supporter of the campaign and an ex-military man, is organising the sale of memorabilia featuring Derek's work to raise funds for UKNDA.

He told The Ross Gazette that it is vital that the men and women who are fighting for Britain's defence are looked after. He said: "We want to ensure they have the right kit, enough helicopters and so on so we don't have to look after them later if they come back to this country badly injured."

Derek has painted a number of military operational scenes depicting equipment and vehicles used by the British Armed Forces throughout the years. He has provided pictorial scenes which appear on the reverse side of mugs, Christmas cards, fridge magnets and keyrings.
