Dear Editor
Whilst it is wonderful that we hold such events as the Christmas Fayre, I am disappointed by the lack of will and organisation of the Town Council regarding our Christmas lights display.
What is frustrating is that it took a number of residents, including myself, complaining to get the string of lights between EWM and Natwest fixed and yet there are still no actions being taken to either repair or replace the lights in the living trees on Gloucester Road.
There is every opportunity to try and get these simple things sorted out well before December and yet Gloucester Road looks pitiful in comparison with High Street and Broad Street for at least the second year running.
The idea of fund raising like the organisers do in Bromyard is excellent but not to the detriment of raising money for charities. Therefore I have proposed that sponsors are sought to contribute for a more colourful festive display next year. Ultimately RTC need to decide if they have the will to actually do something about the town’s Christmas lights as they have fallen short of people’s expectations and I believe this is having a negative effect on the retail footfall.
