Nigel Huddleston, Conservative MP for Mid Worcestershire, was guest speaker at the Herefordshire Conservative Business Forum breakfast, held at the Harewood End Inn on Friday, September 7th.
He told how he was brought up by parents with a “Can do” attitude and a belief that “This is a country that can work for everybody”. His father was a staunch labour Trade Unionist.
Mr Huddleston was the first person from his family to go to university, and the first from his school to go to Oxford. Before entering politics he was in business, including work for Google.
He said: “We are in a world that is changing very quickly. We politicians need to recognise this but to be aware of the impact of foreign companies on our High Street."
Nigel outlined his parliamentary work on several issues including grandparents’ rights and countering puppy-smuggling. and said: "MPs genuinely want to make the world a better place. This is the fundamental reason why MPs are in Parliament.
He answered questions on topics including Donald Trump, Russia, cyber technology and Boris Johnson.
Jesse Norman MP, Conservative MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, thanked him for entertaining his audience during "a great morning”.
