Dog walkers in Ross are among the nearly 300 people who contacted Herefordshire Council to oppose new proposals for dog control.
The consultation period is now closed. The Council has received 289 responses to the consultation exercise: 280 people against the proposals, nine people in favour.
The majority of people against the proposals were against Order 2 - Dogs on leads but there was also a general petition from across the county with - 159 signatures.
The Council is now compiling a report for Cabinet Member for the Environment and Strategic Housing Cllr John Jarvis to make a decision relating to the orders.
In light of the responses against the proposed areas listed in Order 2 the Council will be looking to review the list. The options will be to keep those areas that are not contentious on the list and redefine those areas where people have made responses or to remove those areas altogether. Amendments will be subject to further statutory public consultation prior to any proposed implementation.
It is planned that the decision will be made some time in August 2010 and the agreed orders becoming active some time in September 2010.
