COLLEAGUES of a man seriously injured in a collision with a van last year will be running the length and breadth of the UK next month to raise £7500. Their aim is to equip Leon Hill with a specialist bed and electric wheelchair when he returns home after a long period of rehabilitation.

Fellow Haygrove employees, Toby Wales and Tim Crossman, have quite a task in front of them. Tim will be cycling from John O'Groats to Lands' End from June 7th, while Toby will be running in the Edinburgh Marathon on May 25th and they would welcome support from the people of Ross.

Leon received life-changing injuries following the collision in November last year, while cycling to work on the A449 near the Travellers Rest. "He wasn't just a keen cyclist," said Toby, "but a marathon runner too." Leon is now almost entirely paralysed from the neck down and currently at a rehabilitation unit in Gloucester. If Toby and Tim hit their target and the equipment is purchased, "it will make his return home a little bit easier." Toby and Tim have set up a website that has more information on how to donate. A Coleford man, aged 26, has been charged with driving without due care or attention and will appear at Hereford Magistrates Court on May 28th.
