Sparkling Wye WI’s December meeting was opened by new president, Cherry, who welcomed everyone.

Firstly, Alison Palfrey, from Breast Cancer Haven Hereford, was introduced and presented with a cheque for £565. Haven had been the charity of the year and numerous fundraising events had been held over the year. She then thanked everyone for the donation and explained a bit about what had been happening in the charity during the last year.

Next was a skittles match, the teams (imaginatively named A and B) were announced and help was given by Neil, keeping scores and control, and Charlie, standing the pins back up. People seemed to enjoy the game, despite varying levels of skill, and Team B won.

Meanwhile, there were fun Christmas Dingbat puzzles and a cryptic Christmas singers quiz for everyone to work on while awaiting their turn, these had been kindly put together by Karen.

This was followed by a buffet, coffee and mince pies plus a secret Santa raffle, in which there was a gift for everyone.

Thanks were given to the committee for organising such a fun, sociable evening to finish the year.

SWWI meets on the second Wednesday of the month, in Ross Conservatory Club, The Avenue, at 7.30pm.
