It was good news for the young people of Ross when Past President of Ross Rotary, Richard Williams, called in to a youth group recently. This was because Mr Williams brought with him a donation from Ross Rotary Club that was the result of fundraising carried out during his time as President.

The Youth Workers, led by Paul, showed Richard the facilities at The Venue in Hill Street which are open to all young people free of charge. There is a pool table, café, x box games, football, table tennis, music equipment amongst other things. The drop-in sessions are open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 – 8pm.

The money donated by Ross Rotary will be used for the benefit of all the teenagers who attend, a few of whom are shown in the photo with Richard and the Youth Workers. Chair of Trustees for The Basement Youth Trust, which is the organisation which runs these sessions said; “Our Ross charity has been active in Ross-on-Wye for over 20 years. We aim to give young people a place to be, with positive role models and leisure time activities that help them develop and grow into young adults.”

The Basement Youth Trust is actively looking for help on their Management Team and of course is always in need of funding, so anyone interested in getting involved is welcome to get in touch via Facebook or phone 01989 562145.
