There have been some very generous donations handed in at the Ross Gazette office for our Charity of the Year, New Start Cat Rescue, based in Huntley. The charity aims to care for, and re-home unwanted and abandoned cats in the area and covers Gloucester, the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham, the Cotswolds, Tewkesbury, Ross, Stroud and Cirencester.

The charity is always grateful for any donations of food or items to help care for cats, but they are currently looking for some specific items, such as wet cat food, black bin bags, disposable aprons and gloves.

The charity is run by cat-lovers, but all on a volunteer basis. Their owner tells us that it’s the basic, small things that really add up and end up costing the charity the most. If you could spare any items, it would be greatly appreciated. We can take donations on behalf of New Start Cat Rescue here at the Ross Gazette within our usual working office hours, between 9am and 5pm. You can also join their Facebook group, New Start Cat Rescue, to keep up to date with the charity’s progress and find out more about their cats which are available for adoption.

And as proof that the work of this rescue charity never stops, when the Ross Gazette contacted them to let them know about the donations collected so far, everyone there was busy as a cat was giving birth.

The two beautiful kittens are to be named by the Ross Gazette and we will be following their progress.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
