When little Dottie Osborn was taken ill with measles her Mum vowed to do all she could to encourage other parents to get their children vacinated.

And with the news that there have been more cases of childhood measles in the county so far this year than the whole of last year, there is the very real threat of an outbreak similar to that in South Wales.

As health officials brace themselves Dottie and her mum, Sarah Osborn, were interviewed by Charlotte Grant of Central News about how frightening measles can be.

Three-year-old Dottie spent six days in hospital with measles, initially she was diagnosed with tonsillitis, she had a high temperature, a sore throat and was really washed out. She spent 48 hours in hospital and was sent home with a prescription. She returned to the doctors after white spots appeared in her mouth and was confirmed as having measles and returned to hospital.
